Minneapolis water service line inventory Last updated: Oct. 26, 2026 Published by the Twin Cities Renter Guide, twincitiesrenterguide.com. SOURCE City of Minneapolis, Service Line Inventory (public ArcGIS feature service ServiceLineInventory_Public, layer 0): https://services.arcgis.com/afSMGVsC7QlRK1kZ/arcgis/rest/services/ServiceLineInventory_Public/FeatureServer/0 The same data behind the city's lead service line map: https://www.minneapolismn.gov/resident-services/utility-services/water/water-quality/water-quality-lead/plumbing-faucets/lead-service-line-map/ City data last edited Oct. 25, 2026; downloaded Oct. 26, 2026. The city says the map is updated daily. We download it weekly. NUMBERS IN THIS BUILD Rows: 99,769. Lead: 35,906. Non-lead: 63,659. Unknown: 33. Galvanized requiring replacement: 127. Blank classification: 44. Minneapolis buildings in the landlord lookup matched to a line: 15,338 of 17,639 (lead 4,719, galvanized requiring replacement 21, unknown 3, not lead 10,595). FILES minneapolis-service-lines.csv: every row of the city inventory, with coded values turned into words. See the dictionary. twin-cities-water-lines.json: for the site's landlord lookup. w maps a building's position in landlords.json (built 2026-10-24) to 1 lead, 2 not lead, 3 unknown, 4 galvanized requiring replacement. METHOD 1. Downloaded every row of the city service, checked the row count against the service's own count. 2. For the landlord lookup, matched Minneapolis buildings to inventory rows by street address (unit numbers dropped, street suffixes and directions standardized). Fire, irrigation and "not a water service" lines and demolished properties were skipped, since they don't carry drinking water to a home. Where an address has more than one line, the worst one counts: lead, then galvanized requiring replacement, then unknown, then not lead. LIMITS The classification is the city's record, not a test of your water. "Unknown" means the city hasn't confirmed the material. Addresses that don't match exactly (different spelling, a building with several addresses) show nothing in the lookup; check the city map. Saint Paul's inventory isn't included: its map's data service is not open to the public, so the guide links to the Saint Paul map instead.
